Director Oliver Laxe’s acclaimed movie Mimosas has picked up the Critics’ Week Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
The film, about a dying Sheikh’s last journey through the Moroccan Atlas, was a top prize winner on Thursday night (19May16).
Seven films competed in the Critics’ Week sidebar, which focuses on new talent.
Meanwhile, Mehmet Can Mertoglu’s Album picked up the France 4
Visionary Award
, which is handed out to director for his or her first or second feature, and The Leica Cine Discovery Prize for short films
went to Prenjak by Wregas Bhanuteja.
