‘Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol’ Gets Early IMAX Bow

This afternoon has brought a slew of release date shifts, the most notable of which is Paramount’s decision to open Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol in IMAX theaters on December 16, five days before it debuts on regular screens. The Brad Bird-directed sequel, which features Tom Cruise reprising his iconic role of superspy Ethan Hunt, had been slated to open everywhere on December 21.

The studio also announced that Steven Spielberg‘s The Adventures of Tintin will now open everywhere on December 21, two days earlier than previously scheduled. The news prompted Dreamworks to move the release date of Spielberg’s other Christmas release, War Horse, from December 28 to Christmas Day.
