Monster Hunt sets new box office record in China

Fantasy comedy MONSTER HUNT has become China’s highest-grossing domestic film after smashing the nation’s box office records.
The movie, a mix of live-action and animation, has grossed $212 million (£133 million) since its release on 16 July (15), easily surpassing 2012’s road trip comedy Lost in Thailand, which held the previous record with a $205 million (£128 million).
Reports suggest a sequel to Monster Hunt, from by Raman Hui, who co-directed Shrek the Third in 2007, is already in the works.
