Mourning for Anna | 2009
The face of a gracefully aging woman fills with joy and pride as her daughter, an aspiring virtuoso violinist, performs the concert of a lifetime. But it is also her last concert, as the next time we see the girl, she is lying on a slab in the mortuary. Her devastated mother Francoise decides to deal with her sorrow in total seclusion. She retreats to a place in the mountains she has not seen for decades in the hope that it will help her start again, but it might just evoke more surpressed memories.
