Moviemaker Gus Van Sant to Undergo Alcohol Treatment

Moviemaker Gus Van Sant has agreed to enter an alcohol diversion program in a bid to keep his driving license after getting arrested on drunk-driving charges in December.

The Good Will Hunting director was more than double Oregon’s legal alcohol limit when the vehicle he was driving through Portland was pulled over by police on Dec. 21.

Under the terms of his alcohol treatment, Van Sant will have to undergo an evaluation and education or rehabilitation program for one year.

Van Sant pleaded no contest to the drunk-driving charges, but his DUI conviction will be dismissed if he completes the alcohol program.
