My Mother, My Daughter | 1980
Alice grew up in Europe, and chose to go to college in San Francisco to get away from her overbearing mother. Unable to prevent her mother from attending her graduation, Alice is initially happy to see her until the old issues return, and she remembers why she needed to escape. So she decides to move to Alaska to start a new life, even though it means leaving behind her boyfriend, her dog, and her dream job as a photographer. Alice is determined to find her independence, whether her mother understands or not.
