NEA’s Bill Ivey to resign

Bill Ivey, chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, announced his resignation, effective September 30. According to reports, Ivey said in a statement, “My hope is that by announcing now that I will step down at the end of this fiscal year, the new administration will be able to move efficiently to choose new leadership for the Arts Endowment.” Ivey’s resignation will take effect months before his term was supposed to end. One of Ivey’s major accomplishments was a $7 million funding hike in 2000, the first increase seen by the NEA since 1992.
