One of the signs of a great actor is when you no longer realize that they are playing a character and are just that person. When you are playing someone who lived it can be more difficult because you have to get their voice and mannerisms down. When you are playing one of the most recognizable people in history you often have your work cut out for you.
Not for acting great Gary Oldman. He plays Prime Minister Winston Churchill just before WWII. It was a huge moment for Great Brittain and Churchill’s voice was one of passion and confidence that was completely necessary for a country going to war. While we might know how the war ended up (Spoiler?), it will be interesting to see how Churchill conducted himself behind doors, and with a supporting cast including Lily James, Ben Mendelsohn, Stephen Dillane, Kristin Scott Thomas, and more we might be in for something special.
