HBO’s new movie The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks premiered at the SVA Theater in New York City Tuesday night. The movie is an adaptation of Rebecca Skloot’s book of the same name.
Rose Byrne plays Skloot and Oprah Winfrey plays the daughter of Henrietta Lacks, a woman whose cells were unethically harvested and experimented, resulting in breakthroughs in cures for polio, Parkinson’s disease and leukemia.
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks premieres at Saturday, April 22 at 8pm on HBO.
