Ordinary People | 1980
A seemingly perfect, upper-middle class family is torn apart in the aftermath of a tragedy. After his brother drowns when their boat capsizes, teenage Conrad is guilt-stricken, and convinced that he is the one who should have died, he attempts suicide. As Conrad's mother Beth, who favored his older brother, retreats into an emotionless state of denial, his father Calvin tries to bring his son back into a normal life. Conrad begins to make progress through his therapy sessions, while his father is sadly realizing how the woman he married has changed forever.
