Outrage over Marc Anthony’s ‘kiss’ with singer Maluma

Fans are outraged after Marc Anthony simulated a kiss with fellow singer Maluma onstage.
The 49-year-old was performing his duet Felices los 4 with the salsa star at the Maestro Cares charity event in New York on Thursday (08Mar18), when he jokingly went in for a smooch.
In a video that has now gone viral on social media, Anthony is seen simulating a kiss with the 24-year-old Colombian singer, but actually places his hand on Maluma’s lips to actually block the kiss.
The audience erupted in screams, and minutes later, Maluma’s model girlfriend Natalia Barulich took the stage and gave him a passionate embrace, prompting even more screams from the frenzied audience.
Anthony posted a photograph with Maluma on Instagram on Friday (09Mar18), but the shot was of their performance, not the kiss. “Amazing evening at @MaestroCares 5th annual gala last night. Thanks for your support!” he captioned the photo.
Although meant as a joke, it has provoked a strong reaction on social media, with some fans blaming Anthony for taking the stunt too far.
“Maluma didn’t even move. Marc went too far,” one follower commented under the video post. “What a shame, they don’t know what to do anymore to get attention. It’s a shame, that’s the example they are giving our kids,” another added.
Even Venezuelan actress and former Miss Universe Alicia Machado got involved in the debate and wrote on Twitter: “Darn, that’s just what we need! Women are so fabulous that now we are running out of men. Oh well.”
The Maestro Cares Foundation was founded in 2012 by Zaidy Cardenas, her father Henry Cardenas, and Anthony, and helps to build homes and schools for disadvantaged children in Latin America.
