‘Paranormal Activity 4′ Confirmed to Haunt This Year

ALTBack in October, when Paranormal Activity 3 hit theaters, I mused on the direction for the inevitable continuation of the PA franchise. Grossing an obscene amount of dollars in at the U.S. box office (and with a price tag in the single digit millions), a fourth entry was a given, the only questions were when, with who and how.

And now, thanks to a financial industry report, it’s confirmed: Paranormal Activity 4 will drop in 2012.

The rah-rah press release doesn’t have any details, other than we can expect an installment before year’s end (one would assume in October like the previous three), so the door is still wide open for the producers of the franchise to either depart radically or play it safe. Normally, the idea of whipping up a 90-minute movie in the span of ten months would worry me, but Paranormal Activity is a rare breed, with each installment upping the ante of the last.

Basically, I have no idea how they’ll keep this thing fresh, but I’m anxious for more!
