‘Paranormal Activity’ Expands to 40 Cities, More Expected

Thanks to a carefully crafted viral marketing strategy, Paramount’s low-budget shocker Paranormal Activity sold out midnight screenings at college towns across the country last weekend, prompting the studio to expand it to 40 cities this weekend. Check out www.eventful.com/ParanormalActivity to find out if it’s playing in your area. If not, the site offers you the chance to demand that Paramount release it in your city. We think such grass-roots activism is all well and good, but if you really want to ensure your voice is heard, we recommend that you call Paramount Pictures at (323) 956-5000 and insist on speaking with studio chief Brad Grey directly. Don’t take no for an answer! The fate of Paranormal Activity depends on it!

Oooh, scary! According to Paramount, the stubborn execs at the studio won’t grant Paranormal Activity a wide release unless at least one million people demand it, so be sure to visit www.eventful.com/ParanormalActivity and vote. Better yet, call Brad Grey at (323) 956-5000 and let him know personally. Hurry — don’t let unimaginative corporate stooges deprive this film of the mass audience it so richly deserves!
