The sporting icon was due to attend NYFEST on Saturday (23Apr11) and perform a coin toss to kick off a celebrity soccer match, but he has had to withdraw from the bash.
A statement from the festival organisers reads: “Due to a family matter, Pele has regretfully informed us that he will not be able to attend NYFEST this weekend as originally planned.”
Dad-to-be Ethan Hawke, one-time Aussie soccer star Anthony LaPaglia, Michael Rapaport, Vera Farmiga, and rock offspring Jack Osbourne are all expected to attend the event.
