Philip Seymour Hoffman is joining the cast of the movie adaptation of Child 44, Deadline reports. Based on the novel by Tom Rob Smith, the thriller is set in the Soviet Union under Stalin’s regime. The film centers on a military police officer who looks into the crimes of a serial killer after the government chooses to ignore a number of child murders. Production started on the movie in Prague this month.

Hoffman is just the latest addition to an already notable cast, which includes Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, and Gary Oldman. There’s no word on what character Hoffman will play, but knowing his acting talents, he’d probably be great in any role. Hoffman can be seen next in another book-to-movie adaptation, the Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire.
