Bosses at U.S. pizza company Papa John‘s have taken disciplinary action against an employee after rapper Iggy Azalea‘s phone number was passed to his pals.
The “Fancy” hitmaker took to Twitter.com over the weekend (07-08Feb15) to express her shock and dismay after she was inundated with calls and texts from fans after ordering a meal from a branch of Papa John’s Pizza in California. Azalea blamed an employee of the company for handing out her personal phone number, and wrote, “@PapaJohns was my favourite pizza but the drivers they use give out your personal phone number to their family members… “And the supervisors at @PapaJohns refuse to send pictures of their employess (sic) so you can identify who it is that steals your information… You know, to protect their privacy… Too bad they don’t value the privacy of their customers also. #DamnShame.” She later added, “I just want answers & they (Papa John’s bosses) have none. They are a company that retains your address, name, number & credit card information, expiration cvc number etc. A lot of damage can be done if that falls into the wrong hands, we give them this information with the expectation it remains confidential. “When an employee steals information it’s called data breach. It’s illegal. There are steps a corporation is supposed to follow afterward… I want answers @papajohns why is customer confidentiality a joke to your company?”
Following her tirade, a spokesperson for the pizza company released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter on Monday (09Feb15). It reads, “Privacy of our customers and employees is extremely important to us. Papa John’s has taken appropriate disciplinary action with regard to the employee involved. We are reaching out directly to Ms. Azalea and hope to resolve this incident and make it right.”
