Prisoners captures U.K. box office glory

Hollywood thriller Prisoners has raced to the top spot at the U.K. box office on its opening weekend (27-29Sep13) The film, starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal, took $2 million (£1.3 million) in ticket sales and beat out competition from motor racing movie Rush, which was overtaken and slipped into second place, with $1.4 million (£987,549).
Woody Allen’s new comedy Blue Jasmine came in at number three, with $1.2 million (£833,798), closely followed by another new release, Runner Runner, in fourth place with $1.1 million (£764,886).
The top five is rounded out by horror movie sequel Insidious: Chapter 2, which netted $858,831 (£572,554).
