The release date for Puss in Boots, the animated movie spun off from the Shrek franchise, has been moved up by a week — to Oct. 28 from Nov. 4.
The change of date bumps the film — whose title character will be voiced by Antonio Banderas, as it was from Shrek 2 on — up to the potentially lucrative Halloween weekend and gives DreamWorks and Paramount more time to earn money before the wave of Thanksgiving-time family films crashes in early November.
It was to open alongside Tower Heist and A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas but will now invade the opening weekend that was to be highlighted by the Justin Timberlake thriller In Time and the Shakespeare-hatin’ Anonymous, among other wide releases.
