Fans of geriatric action comedy flocked two years ago to RED, the surprise-hit spy yarn starring Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, and John Malkovich in a story about retired CIA and MI6 agents who are forced to re-team after their cover is blown and they’re targeted by assassins. Not only did the modestly budgeted movie gross $200 million worldwide, it was even nominated for a 2011 Golden Globe in the Best Picture — Comedy or Musical category.
A sequel was inevitable, and Summit Entertainment has now released the first extended look at RED 2 (due Aug. 2) in a new trailer. Just don’t expect some riff on “We’re getting the band back together!” This time, the RED team is splintered when Helen Mirren’s literally-dressed-to-kill Victoria is commissioned by MI6 to take out Willis’ Frank. From the photo above, you can tell how stylish she is even when chemically disintegrating the bodies of her victims. Check out the trailer here:
