Remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘Rebecca’ in the Works

Alfred HitchcockA remake of Alfred Hitchcock‘s 1940 thriller Rebecca is currently in the works, with Eastern Promises‘ screenwriter Steven Knight set to pen the script.

The original, released in 1940, starred Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine and centers on a young woman who marries a wealthy widower and moves into his mansion, where the memory — and maybe more — of his late wife is palpable.

In addition to David Cronenberg‘s 2007 drama Eastern Promises, Knight also wrote the script for the 2002 crime thriller Dirty Pretty Things and the upcoming Jason Stathamstarring thriller Hummingbird, which will mark Knight’s directorial debut.
