Kevin Hart and Ice Cube’s cop comedy sequel Ride Along 2 has dethroned Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the top of the North American box office.
The sequel earned $39.5 million (GBP26.3 million) over the weekend (15-17Jan16) to take the number one spot away from the sci-fi blockbuster, which has been the world’s top film for four weeks.
Leonardo DiCaprio’s The Revenant comes in at number two with $35 million (GBP23.3 million), while Star Wars follows with $31 million (GBP20.7 million).
Michael Bay’s 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi and Daddy’s Home close out the top five.
