Robert Pattinson Reteams With David Cronenberg for ‘Maps to the Stars,’ Will Probably Have Sex the Whole Film

Credit: Entertainment One

David Cronenberg‘s Cosmopolis was about as bitter of a career about-face for Robert Pattinson, after years of Twilight movies, as Spring Breakers was for Disney princesses Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens. Most of that movie was comprised of the former Edward Cullen sulking in the back of a limo motoring through urban sprawl and randomly having sex along the way.

The Twilight fans might have enjoyed the sex but probably not the brooding commentary on postmodern alienation and the decay of consumer culture. There traditionally hadn’t been much overlap between the respective fanbases of Stephenie Meyer and Don DeLillo.

Now Cronenberg is staging a Cosmopolis reunion. For his next effort, Maps to the Stars, described as an “indie ghost story” that’s also an indictment of celebrity culture — yup, it’s being shot in and around Los Angeles — he’s cast Pattinson opposite Cosmopolis co-star Sarah Gadon. John Cusack and Julianne Moore will also be on hand for the crazy, creepy, cool sexy times.
