Rush: ‘Anniversary tour will likely be our last’

Veteran rockers Rush are preparing to celebrate over four decades in the music industry by heading out on one “last major tour”. The Canadian stars will hit the road for the R40 Live 40th Anniversary Tour, which is designed to commemorate drummer Neil Peart’s addition to the band, even though that actually happened in 1974.
Guitarist Alex Lifeson admitted in early 2014 that the group decided to mark the milestone a year late as they needed a break from their massive Clockwork Angels world tour in 2013.
He said, “It’s going to be a 41st anniversary tour, or whatever they’re going to call it.”
Rush will make stops in 34 cities across North America before wrapping up the trek in Los Angeles in August (15) – and fans have been advised to catch them in concert while they can.
A press release announcing the gigs reads: “These not-to-be-missed concerts will highlight four decades of the band’s music. (This) will most likely be their last major tour of this magnitude.”
Frontman Geddy Lee and co. are expected to revisit their biggest hits on the anniversary tour, including ’70s favourites like Fly by Night and Closer to the Heart.
