Director Sam Taylor-Johnson Set to Whip Up ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Movie

Fifty Shades of Grey fansgrasp on tightly to your blindfolds, chains, and metal balls, because we’re that much closer to whipping the exceedingly anticipated film-adaption into production. The kinky adaption from Focus Features and Universal Pictures already scored Kelly Marcel as screen writer, and now the inevitablely risqué flick has found itself a director: Sam Taylor-Johnson.

The filmmaker, wife of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, is best known for her directorial debut Nowhere Boy, which chronicled the origins of John Lennon’s life (and helped to launch her husband’s acting career). The British director will venture into the Red Room of Pain, setting Anastasia Steele under the command of the domineering, jaw-droppingly gorgeous Christian Grey.

Michael De Luca, producer of the hot and steamy project, shared how Taylor-Johnson snagged the coveted role as director. According to Deadline, De Luca stated, “Sam’s unique ability to gracefully showcase complex relationships dealing with love, emotion, and sexual chemistry make her the ideal director to bring Christian and Anastasia’s relationship to life. EL James’ characters and vivid storytelling require a director who is willing to take risks and push the envelope where needed, and Sam is a natural fit.” Bravo, Sam!

And for all the obedient Christian Grey submissives worried about the film leaning on the side of caution, don’t fret: the eroticism and S&M scenes will not be dulled down. It will be rated NC-17, so we’re expecting to practically watch porn on the big screen pretty much.
