Saturday Night Fever dance floor up for auction

Fans of John Travolta’s disco-era movie Saturday Night Fever could soon be dancing on the same floor as his cool character Tony Manero – it’s up for auction.
The original disco floor from the 1977 movie will go under the hammer as part of a Profiles in History sale in Los Angeles later this month (Jun17), and auction experts expect the odd item to fetch up to $1.5 million (GBP1.2 million).
The dance floor was custom-built for the movie and featured in famous Travolta dance scenes, shot in a Brooklyn club.
The seller is a former DJ and party planner at the 2001 Odyssey club, who bought the memorabilia when the venue closed in 2005.
Profiles in History’s Hollywood Auction will take place on 26-28 June.
