‘Ghost In The Shell’ is a much beloved Japanese Manga that fans already love. The series has already been put into an anime and tv show, but now the story is getting a “big budget Hollywood” adaptation.
The story follows The Major (Scarlett Johansson), a human-cyborg policewoman who has to take down hackers in a steampunk version of Tokyo. “Ghosts” are the human essence and the “shells” are different cyborg bodies. The Major had a past, and the antagonists of the film want her to remember her past. There’s a conspiracy and the Major is right in the middle of it all. This trailer is the first time we see glimpses of Kuze (Michael Pitt), the main villain.
Visually, it’s hard to argue that the film doesn’t gorgeous. Fans of the series are worried about the storyline. It’s easy for this story to take the turn of a female Robocop in futuristic Tokyo, but that’s not what fans believe the real story of Ghost In The Shell is.
As always, it’s hard to tell the full story in a trailer, so fans will just have to see Ghost In The Shell when it releases in theaters on March 31, 2017, to make their own judgements.
