June 11, 2016, will mark 30 years since John Hughes‘ ’80s classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Offhit theaters. See what the cast of the the quintessential high school film, and Hughes’ love letter to Chicago are up to now.
Matthew Broderick- Ferris Bueller
When Matthew Broderick landed then titular role in Ferris Bueller at the age of 24 years old, it proved to be a career launching point. Though he had starred in several films before landing the role of the trouble making Chicago teen, he would be nominated for a Golden Globe for this role. Since then, Broderick has starred in everything from The Lion Kingto Election. He has also had major success as a Broadway star in productions like, Nice Work If You Can Get It and The Odd Couple. Broderick has been married toSex and the Citystar Sarah Jessica Parker since '97.
Alan Ruck- Cameron Frye
Alan Ruck played Ferris' hypochondriac BFF Cameron Frye in one of his very first film roles. Since then, Ruck has transitioned mostly into television with appearances on shows like Mad About Youand his most infamous role as Stuart Bondek on Spin City. Ruck has most recently appeared on Masters of Sex and The Middle. Coming up, he will star in the Brad Pitt Netflix film, War Machine.
Mia Sara-Sloane Peterson
For Mia Sara, starring as Ferris' bae Salone Peterson was only her second acting role. The year prior, she'd starred in Legend opposite Tom Cruise. Though she had a few more roles on the big screen throughout the remainder of the '80s, Sara took to television in the '90s starring in everything from Chicago Hope to CSI:NY. She is married to Ben Henson, the son of Muppets creator Jim Henson and she has her private pilot's license.

Jeffrey Jones- Dean of Students Ed Rooney
Jeffrey Jones was on a career high when he was cast in Ferris Bueller's Day Off as Ed Rooney, the Dean of Students determined to beat Ferris at his own game. His sick obsession caused him to break into the Bueller family home and assault their poor dog. Though Jones went on to star inTim Burton’s Beetlejuice and Sleepy Hollow, his personal life became just as sick and twisted as Ed Rooney's when he was arrested in 2002 for possession of child pornography. Jeffrey Jones' career has come to a halt since.
Jennifer Grey- Jeanie Bueller
The year afterJennifer Greylanded the role of Jeanie Bueller, Ferris' fed-up older sister in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, she got cast in the role of her career as Baby opposite Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing. Though she has had some smaller roles over the past several years, Grey's career stalled somewhat after her decision to have plastic surgery made her almost unrecognizable. Still, Grey has pressed forward winning the 11th season of Dancing With the Stars. She is also married to Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. star Clark Gregg.
Cindy Pickett- Katie Bueller
In Ferris Bueller, Cindy Pickettplayed Katie Bueller, Ferris' naive mother who believes her teenage son is innocently at home recovering from an illness. Before starring in the '80s classic, Pickett had roles on television series like, Magnum, P.I. and Guiding Light. Since the '80s Pickett has continued to work on shows likeMurder, She Wrote and The Mentalist. She even found love on the set of Ferris, marrying her on-screen hubby Lyman Wardonce filming wrapped. Unfortunately, the romance between the duo didn't last, and they were divorced by '92.
By saying, "Bueller? . . . Bueller? . . . Bueller?", in a monotone voice,Ben Stein has perhaps the most memorable scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. After spending the early part of his professional life as a lawyer, Ben Stein switched gears to acting and snagged the role of an unnamed economics teacher in this cult classic. Post-Bueller, Stein was in everything from, Richie Rich to The Fairly OddParents. These days, he's stepped away from acting focus on his political column in The American Spectator magazine.

Charlie Sheen- Boy in Police Station
Watching Charlie Sheen's career has been like watching a high-action film in itself. Though his presence is Ferris Bueller's Day Off was super short, it was still very memorable. In the movie, Sheen meet's Jennifer Grey's Jeanie Bueller in the police station, and the duo hit it off. Post-Bueller Sheen starred in everything from Spin City to his eight-year run as Charlie Harper on Two and a Half Men. Unfortunately, his personal life has been rather tumultuous, from his heavy drug use to his sexual escapes. Hopefully, these next few years will be good for Charlie Sheen.
