Denzel Hayes Washington Jr. was born December 28, 1954 in Mount Vernon, New York. His parents divorced when he was 14 and his mother decided to send him to a private preparatory school called Oakland Military Academy in New Windsor, New York. He later went on to graduate from Fordham University in 1977 with a B.A. in Drama and Journalism. During his time at Fordham however, Washington was unsure of what major he wanted to pursue. As a result, he dropped out of school for a semester to work as a creative arts director at an overnight summer camp in Lakeville, Connecticut. There, he took part in a staff talent show when a colleague of his suggested he go into acting before he returned to Fordham.

Washington then enrolled at the Lincoln Center campus to study acting where he landed the title roles of Shakespeare's Othello and Eugene O'Neill's The Emperor Jones. Afterwards, he attended graduate school at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco for a year and then returned to New York to start his career in acting.

In The Magnificent Seven, Washington plays Sam Chisolm, a bounty hunter and the leader of Seven.

Christopher Michael Pratt was born on June 21,1979 in Virginia, Minnesota. Pratt wrestled during his high school years and once placed 5th in a state wrestling tournament. After high school, Pratt studied acting at a local community college for half a semester before dropping out. He then worked as a discount ticket salesman and a daytime stripper before moving to the island of Maui in Hawaii. There, Pratt slept in a van while he worked as a waiter at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company restaurant.

It was there that Pratt was discovered by actress and director Rae Dawn Chong who casted him as Devon in her directorial debut film Cursed Part 3. Although the film was never released, the experience solidified Pratt's resolve to pursue a career in acting.

In The Magnificent Seven, Pratt plays Josh Farraday, a gambler who has a penchant for explosives.

Ethan Green Hawke was born on November 6, 1970 in Austin, Texas. His parents married young and were students at the University of Texas when he was born. They later divorced and Hawke was raised by his mother after the separation. He and his mother moved around a few times before settling in New York City. There, Hawke made his stage debut when he was 13 in a school production of George Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan.

After high school, Hawke studied acting at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh but dropped out after he was cast in his breakthrough role in Dead Poets Society opposite Robin Williams. He later enrolled in New York University's English program twice but dropped out twice to pursue acting. He would later go on to receive critical acclaim for his performance in Training Day alongside Denzel Washington in 2001.

In The Magnificent Seven, Hawke plays the sharpshooter Goodnight Robicheaux.

Vincent Philip D'Onofrio was born on June 30,1959 in Brooklyn, New York, but was raised in Colorado and Hawaii. After his parents divorced, his family moved to Hialeah, Florida where he became interested in magic. During his teenage years, he worked backstage in set building and sound production for community theaters run by his father. After graduating from Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School, D’Onofrio began acting in small community theater productions at the University of Colorado. Later, he worked as a bouncer at the Hard Rock Cafe, a bodyguard, and a deliveryman while he performed in New York University student productions.

D’Onofrio would go on to play Private Leonard Lawrence in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket, Detective Goren on Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Wilson Fisk a.k.a. Kingpin in Netflix's Daredevil.

In The Magnificent Seven, D’Onofrio plays the tracker Jack Horne.

Byung-hun Lee was born on August 13, 1970 in Seoul, South Korea. He graduated from Hanyang University with a major in French Literature and the Graduate School of Chung-Ang University with a major in Theater and Cinematography. He got his start in acting when he auditioned for the KBS-TV network in 1991 and made his debut in the television drama, Asphalt My Hometown. In 2000, Lee made his big breakthrough in Park Chan-wook's Joint Security Area which became the highest grossing Korean film at the time.
 
He would go on to make his Hollywood debut as Storm Shadow in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and later played the new T-1000 in Terminator Genisys. He became the first Korean actor to present an award at the Oscars when he presented the "Best Foreign Language Film" award with actress Sofia Vergara for the 88th Academy Awards.
 
In The Magnificent Seven, Lee plays the assassin Billy Rocks.

Manuel Garcia-Rulfo was born on February 25, 1981 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He grew up on a ranch in Jalisco where he learned how to ride horses. He went to Universidad del Valle de Atemajac where he majored in Communications before attending the New York Film Academy to study filmmaking. However, he decided to return to Mexico to focus on his acting career.

His first role in acting was as José in the short film Valle de lágrimas in 2006 and his first major American film was Bless Me, Ultima in 2013. He later gained recognition as Arturo in the film Cake and as Narciso Menendez in From Dusk till Dawn: The Series.

In The Magnificent Seven, Garcia-Rulfo plays the Mexican outlaw Vasquez.

Martin Sensmeier was born in Anchorage, Alaska. A relative newcomer to the acting industry, Sensmeier is of Tlingit, Koyukon-Athabascan, and Irish descent. Before moving to Los Angeles in 2007 to pursue a career in acting, he worked on an oil rig in Alaska. After moving to California, he started working as a professional model. His first role was as Tintah in the short film K'ina Kil: The Slaver's Son in 2014.
