See the Teaser for Beyoncé’s ‘Black is King’ coming to Disney+

When it was announced that Disney would be remaking ‘The Lion King’ my head went a couple of different ways, and one of those thoughts was about the soundtrack.

The original was so iconic and the new soundtrack would have to be something special. While she played Nala, an important character, it felt like we didn’t see much of Beyoncé, but we would see her doing what she does the best music.

‘The Lion King: The Gift’ was exactly that, a gift to the people. the album is a mix of R&B, pop, hip hop, and Afrobeat, with well-known artists like Jay-Z, Childish Gambino, Pharrell Williams, and Kendrick Lamar just to name a few, but it also included African artists that the western world might not know.

Now, with the help of Disney+, we are going one step further into the magic of the album with a visual album called ‘Black is King’. While this is a teaser and not much is known, in a press release it says it “reimagines the lessons of ‘The Lion King’ for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns.”

‘Black is King’ releases on Disney+ on July 31, 2020.
