Edgar Wright is the director behind the Cornetto Trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End) and other films like Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. After writing but no longer directing Marvel’s Ant-Man, he turned to a new original film ‘Baby Driver, and it may be his best film to date.
The film follows Baby (Ansel Elgort) a young guy who, after being injured at birth, has a ringing in his ear, so he constantly listens to music to drown it out. He won’t let that stop him, and he became one of the best getaway drivers for some of the worst people around. Baby meets Deborah (Lily James) and the two instantly fall for each other. Baby wants out, but mob boss Doc (Kevin Spacey) doesn’t want him to. Baby teams up with Bats (Jamie Foxx) and Darling (Eiza Gonzalez) to take on baddies like Buddy (Jon Hamm) and Griff (Jon Bernthal), but can they outrun all of them?
The film had it’s premiere at SXSW and fans are loving it. The film has everything we’ve come to expect from an Edgar Wright film, including fast cuts, humor, and some amazing action.
Baby Driver releases August 11, 2017.
