“Set It Off” Premiere

HOLLYWOOD-The busy streets of Hollywood were even more congested when the world famous Chinese Theater played host to the premiere of director F. Gary Gray‘s new film “Set It Off.”

Fans flocked around the celebrated theater in hopes of catching a glimpse of a superstar. Most were not disappointed. The stars of the action/drama about a group of young women who decide to take control of their destinies by robbing a series of banks were given a strong reception by the enthusiastic crowd.

Among those in attendance were cast members Jada Pinkett (“The Nutty Professor”), Queen Latifah (“Living Single”), Vivica A. Fox (“Independence Day”), Kimberly Elise, Blair Underwood (“LA Law”) and John C. McGinley (“The Rock”).

Adding to the almost frantic pitch of the crowd, were the arrivals of such megastars as Denzel Washington, filmmaker John Singleton, Arsenio Hall, Martin Lawrence and basketball icon Magic Johnson.

As music plays a vital role in the film, so too did the appearance of several giants of the music industry at the premiere. Those in attendance included Ice Cube, Toni Braxton, Dr. Dre, Bill Bellamy, New Edition, Brandy and En Vogue.

The film, which opened November 6, is produced by Oren Koules (“Mrs. Winterbourne) and Dale Pollock (“S.F.W.” and “The Beast”). The story was written by Takashi Bufford and Kate Lanier.
