Synopsis

An account of the ill-fated 1914 polar expedition to Antarctica, led by Sir Ernest Shackleton. Shackleton and his 27-man crew were stranded aboard their vessel, The Endurance, when the ship became trapped in the ice floes of the Weddell Sea. After 10 months, The Endurance was crushed and sank, forcing the crew to set up camp on Elephant Island. At this point Shackleton, determined that every member of his crew should survive, set out with 5 crew members on a desperate journey to seek help. Braving treacherous waters, this small band of men were able to reach South Georgia Island. After a difficult two years, the crew was finally rescued.
