Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy Are Slick, Old School Gangsters in ‘Lawless’ — TRAILER

HardyNeither Tom Hardy nor Shia LaBeouf are inexperienced in a life of crime. Hardy has been part of a heist team in Inception, played a common crook in Thick as Thieves, and will be taking on the newest and most brutal Batman villain in The Dark Knight Rises. And LaBeouf… well, he stole a pair of shoes once and had to dig a lot of holes for it.

But the pair is upping the ante in criminology in the new trailer for Lawless. The movie tells the story of real life gangster brothers Forrest, Jack and Howard Bondurant (the latter is played by Jason Clarke), and, somewhat disappointingly, is actually not at all about Xena: Warrior Princess. The Bondurant Brothers made their living in the moonshine game during the Great Depression; their operation is the plot of the novel The Wettest County in the World, by descendant Matt Bondurant.

The film packs a pretty impressive supporting cast, including Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman, the ubiquitous Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska. Check out the trailer below to see how well the stars set the scene of Depression era gangsters:
