Singin’ In The Rain director Stanley Donen dead

Singin’ In The Rain director Stanley Donen has died.
The 94-year-old filmmaker and choreographer was behind classic musicals including On The Town, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Funny Face, Charade, Arabesque and Two for the Road.
His death was confirmed on Saturday (23Feb19) by one of his sons, Chicago Tribune film critic Michael Phillips shared on social media.
“Confirmed by one of his sons this morning: Director Stanley Donen has died at 94. With Gene Kelly he brought ON THE TOWN and SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN into the world; on his own, 7 BRIDES, CHARADE and TWO FOR THE ROAD. A huge, often neglected talent,” he wrote on Twitter.
He was married to film director and comedian Elaine May, and was awarded an honorary Oscar in 1997 for his filmmaking achievements.
Donen began his career as a dancer on Broadway, and later signed a contract with MGM where he began his partnership with Hollywood icon, Gene Kelly.
The pair choreographed dance sequences on 1944’s Cover Girl, before landing their first co-directing gig, On The Town in 1949, and then working on the Hollywood classic, Singin’ In The Rain.
