Smoke Dawg fatally shot in Toronto – report

Smoke Dawg has become the latest rapper to lose his life in a shooting incident.
The hip-hop star was killed outside Toronto, Canada’s Cube nightclub on Saturday (30Jun18), according to local news outlet CP24. Two men and one woman were taken to hospital following the shooting incident. The man, Smoke Dawg, later died of his injuries.
Graphic images posted to social media showed a young man lying on the sidewalk in a pool of blood.
Police have yet to confirm the identity of the deceased, but rappers Drake and Mustafa the Poet have taken to social media to mourn their fellow rapper’s death.
Sharing a picture of Smoke Dawg on his Instagram Story, Drake wrote: “All these gifts and blessed souls and inner lights being extinguished lately is devastating. I wish peace would wash over our city. So much talent and so many stories we never get to see play out. Rest up Smoke.”
While Mustafa the Poet tweeted: “The worst day of my life, I somehow keep finding a new worst. Smokey is gone, may our prayers follow him to heaven.”
Smoke Dawg first rose to prominence in 2015 with the track Still, and he later collaborated with Skepta and French Montana. He also performed with Drake and Skepta during a gig in London last year (17).
According to NME.com, Smoke Dawg, who released his latest track Fountain Freestyle earlier this week (ends01Jul18), was working on his first full length album.
A rep for Smoke Dawg has yet to comment on the report.
