Some Like It Hot to be adapted into Broadway musical

Billy Wilder’s comedy Some Like It Hot will hit the stage as a Broadway musical in 2020.
Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis, and Marilyn Monroe starred in the 1959 film about two male musicians who dress up as women to join an all-female band after witnessing a murder, and now Casey Nicholaw is choreographing and directing a musical stage adaptation.
The show will be produced by Craig Zadan, Neil Meron, and bosses at the Shubert Organization.
“We are grateful to MGM for allowing us to tackle the challenge of translating the film’s singular energy and magic to the stage,” a statement from Zadan, Meron and the Shubert Organization’s Philip J. Smith and Robert E. Wankel reads.
The score will be composed by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, but it is unclear who will star in the production.
This isn’t the first stage adaption of the movie – in 1972, Sugar opened on Broadway and Tony Curtis starred in a travelling version of the show named in 2002.
