Spinal Tap bassist recruits rock all-stars for debut solo album

Spinal Tap bassist Derek Smalls has lined up an all-star guest list for his first solo album.
Smalls Change (Meditations on Ageing) will feature Peter Frampton, Donald Fagen, Toto’s Steve Lukather, and Richard Thompson among others.
Smalls, the This Is Spinal Tap character created by comedian and actor Harry Shearer, insists his ability to lure big names to join him in the studio is a “pity f**k”, joking the stars all feel sorry for him.
Shearer also quips the album was made possible by a grant from the recently launched “British Fund for Ageing Rockers”.
Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Foo Fighters star Taylor Hawkins, Jeff ‘Skunk’ Baxter, Larry Carlton, Waddy Wachtel, and David Crosby also appear on the album, which features song titles Hell Toupee, She Puts the B**ch in Obituary, and Butt Call.
