MELISSA MCCARTHY’s latest action/comedy SPY has sneaked past SAN ANDREAS to nab the top spot at the U.K. box office in its opening weekend (06-07Jun15).
The slapstick sleuth movie took $4.1 million (£2.6 million), overtaking the disaster blockbuster, which earned $2.9 million (£1.8 million) in its second week.
Supernatural horror film, Insidious: Chapter 3 entered the chart in third place with takings of $2.3 million (£1.4 million), while the latest installment in the Mad Max franchise, Mad Max: Fury Road, took fourth place with $1.3 million (£804,000).
Musical comedy Pitch Perfect 2 rounded out the top five with takings of $1.2 million (£750,000).
