‘Star Wars Episode VII’: Carrie Fisher Confirms Leia, and the Metal Bikini, Will Return

Carrie Fisher Seemingly Confirms She, and the Metal Bikini, Will be back for Star Wars Episode 7

This is the news you’re looking for.

Carrie Fisher has seemingly confirmed to Palm Beach Illustrated magazine that she will be returning to that Galaxy Far, Far Away for J.J. AbramsStar Wars: Episode VII. Taken with Mark Hamill’s recent comments to Entertainment Tonight that Lucasfilm wants him, Fisher, and Ford back for a new trilogy of movies, this news makes it seem more and more likely that we might be able to see a Wishful Drinking Leia yet.

A representative for Lucasfilm couldn’t be reached in time to comment, but any official confirmation from the studio is unlikely. Fisher’s one-word answer when the Palm Beach Illustrated reporter asked her if she’d be back for Episode VII was “Yes.” But it’s entirely likely that she could be joking. She described an “elderly” Princess Leia as now living “in an intergalactic old folks’ home” but that she’s still wearing “the bagel buns and the bikini, because probably she has sundowners syndrome. At sundown, she thinks that she’s 20-something. And she puts it on and gets institutionalized.”

So take this news with a grain of (bagel bun) salt. Fisher made headlines recently because of her ongoing struggle with bipolar disorder, so there is still a very great possibility she will not be back for Episode VII. But we can dream.
