Steve Carell Signs On to Heist Flick ‘Conviction’

5381867.jpgDeadline.com reports that Warner Bros. has signed Steve Carell to star in and produce Conviction, a heist flick about a convicted bank robber lured by the FBI into a scheme to entrap his former protege. The script, from writer Jonathan Herman, lingered on the studio’s shelf for two years before the studio decided to refashion its Heat-esque story as an action comedy more in line with Carell’s screen persona. (Deadline compares its tone to that of 48 Hours and Ocean’s Eleven.) Joel Silver will produce under his Silver Pictures banner.
