Steven Spielberg has defended his new movie Munich against criticism he incorrectly portrayed the 1972 Olympic massacre—insisting his dramatization is a “prayer for peace.”
The movie, already tipped as a hot Oscar contender, sees Spielberg tackle the conflict between Israel and Palestine. And the legendary filmmaker hopes the film will emphasize the futility of violence.
He says, “There’s been a quagmire of blood for many decades. Where does it end? How can it end?
“Somewhere inside all this intransigence, there has to be a prayer for peace. The biggest enemy is not the Palestinians or the Israelis. (It) is intransigence.”
