Tabloid bosses stand firm against Ed Sheeran’s attack on security story

Editors at British newspaper The Sun are standing by a story about Ed Sheeran’s security measures after the pop star took aim at the tabloid for suggesting he was building a fence to keep out the homeless.
The Shape of You singer took to social media over the weekend to blast reporter Natalie Edwards’ article, insisting he was actually erecting a fence around his London pad to keep the paparazzi at bay.
He wrote: “Your story is b**locks. I have done lots of work in the past for crisis and shelter (homeless charities) and would never build railings outside my home for that reason.
“The reason was to keep the paps (paparazzi) that you employ from being on my doorstep. Have a good day.”
But it appears keeping those sleeping rough outside Ed’s home was a real consideration, according to the application to erect the railings, sent to planning officials at The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and obtained by The Sun.
The proposal reads: “The combination of Portland stone plinth and the railings will help to deter rough sleeping, avoid the collection of rubbish blown onto the concrete surfaced area and provide the applicant with a desirable level of security…”
A spokesman for The Sun tells WENN, “The Sun disputes the story is untrue. The information about the gate is contained in a planning application with regards to Mr. Sheeran’s home. We stand by Natalie and her story.”
