Tangerine Dream star Edgar Froese dies

Tangerine Dream founder Edgar Froese has died, aged 70. Froese passed away on Tuesday (20Jan15) in Vienna, Austria after suffering a pulmonary embolism.
The remaining members of the German electronic music group broke the news in a post on Tangerine Dream’s Facebook.com page, writing, “On January 20th, Tuesday afternoon, Edgar Froese suddenly and unexpectedly passed away from the effects of a pulmonary embolism in Vienna. The sadness in our hearts is immensely (sic). Edgar once said: ‘There is no death, there is just a change of our cosmic address.’ Edgar, this is a little comfort to us.”
Froese founded the group in 1967 and was the only consistent member despite several line-up changes. They released more than 100 albums and wrote music for numerous movies including Tom Cruise’s Risky Business and Legend.
Froese also released a number of solo recordings, while his son Jerome Froese joined his dad as part of the band in 1990 and left in 2006.
