Taxi driver accused of killing ballet star cleared

A London taxi driver accused of killing ballet star Jonathan Ollivier has been cleared of careless driving.
The dancer suffered fatal head injuries after his motorbike was involved in a crash with Abdul Qayyum’s cab as he made his way to a performance in Matthew Bourne’s The Car Man at Sadler’s Wells Theatre.
The taxi driver was found not guilty of death by careless driving on Tuesday (11Apr17) following a a trial at the Old Bailey in London.
Ollivier was 38 when he died and Bourne paid tribute to the ballet star, calling him “one of the most charismatic and powerful dancers of his generation”.
