Temptations’ Ali-Ollie Woodson Dies

AliOllieAli-Ollie Woodson, Motown singer who led The Temptations, has died after battling cancer at the age of 58.

Woodson is best known for taking control of The Temptations through the 80’s and 90’s, replacing former frontman Dennis Edwards. Woodson helped to keep the Motown group relevent by releasing R&B hits “Lady Soul,” “Treat Her Like A Lady” and “Sail Away.” After leaving The Temptations, he continued to perform with the group Allie-Ollie Woodson and The Emperors of Soul.

Billy Wilson, president of the Motown Alumni Association and Woodson’s friend, reported the news. Wilson went on to describe Woodson. “He was cool. He had a coolness about himself that was really very inviting… [he] was always a gentleman and always polite and kind to everybody.”

Ali-Ollie Woodson is survived by his wife, Juanita, and several children.
