The Cabin in the Woods director to helm Spider-Man spin-off

The Cabin In The Woods director Drew Goddard is nearing a deal to helm Spider-Man spin-off film The Sinister Six. Goddard, who is also writing the script, is in negotiations to direct the film, according to Variety.com.
Last year (13), producers behind the Spider-Man film franchise announced they are planning a number of spin-off movies, including The Sinister Six, an ensemble piece featuring a group of the superhero’s arch-enemies, and another film focusing on Venom, who was played by Topher Grace in 2007’s Spider-Man 3.
Goddard is part of a so-called “franchise brain trust” which includes The Amazing Spider-Man 2 director Marc Webb, two producers and four other writers, who will collaborate on making the spin-off films’ storylines cohesive.
