The Cast of ‘The Princess Diaries’ – Where Are They Now?

Can you believe The Princess Diaries premiered almost 15 years ago?! That’s 15 years of wishing we had a cat as fat and cute as Fat Louie. We might have gotten The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement in 2004, but that was not nearly as iconic as the original. Who hasn’t ordered a pizza and put M&Ms on it after watching this movie? We all know Anne Hathaway went on to bigger things, but what about her classmates and the adults in her life? See the cast of The Princess Diaries – where are they now!

Anne Hathaway - Mia Thermopolis

The Princess Diaries was Anne Hathaway's breakout role. Since her days as the Princess of Genovia, Anne has gone on to have a more serious acting career. Some of her earlier serious work includes 2005's Havoc and Brokeback Mountain, where she played Jake Gyllenhaal's wife. Her role of Fantine in 2012's Les Miserables solidified her status - and it earned her a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Award, BAFTA Award, and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2015 it seems she's taking a step back from the heavy and will star in the endearing film, The Intern, with Robert De Niro. She is also a vocal LGBT rights activist and has donated money to many organizations over the years that support same-sex marriage.
Heather Matarazzo - Lilly Moscovitz

Shortly after her days as Princess Mia's bestie, Heather Matarazzo went on to appear in Sorority Boys and Saved! with The Princess Diaries "it girl" Mandy Moore. Over the years she's popped up in film and TV, on some popular shows like Stalker, Grey's Anatomy, Law & Order, Exes and Ohs, and The L Word. Some work of hers we can look forward to in the future includes: Are You Afraid of the '90s?, Sisters, Girl Flu, and more. Heather is an open lesbian. She was briefly engaged to musician Caroline Murphy, but the couple split in 2011.
Robert Schwartzman - Michael Moscovitz

As you may (or may-not) know, Robert Schwartzman is widely known as the lead singer of the band Rooney. But what you might not know is, he is the nephew of famous director, writer, and producer Francis Ford Coppola, making him the cousin of also-famous director Sofia Coppola. Before Princess Diaries, he worked with his cousin Sofia on Lick the Star and The Virgin Suicides. In 2011 he released his first solo album, Double Capricorn, and donated all the proceeds to Tibetan Healing Fund to help build a new birthing center. He worked with Devonte Hynes to score the film Palo Alto.

Mandy Moore - Lana Thomas

Mandy Moore might not be the princess in this movie, but that didn't stop her from becoming one. Her music career aside, Mandy's biggest role since The Princess Diaries would have to be voicing Princess Rapunzel in Disney's Tangled. Obviously we all know Mandy is an excellent singer, why else do you think she was singing on stage at that beach? She's recorded six studio albums, her last one - Amanda Leigh - released in 2009. Aside from singing, she's been busy with acting and voice over work, most recently working on Red Band Society, High School USA!, and Sheriff Callie's Wild West. She's sticking to her Disney and singing roots and will reprise her role as Rapunzel in the Tangled TV series on the Disney Chanel, beginning in 2017.
Erik von Detten - Josh Bryant

Erik von Detten isn't shredding anymore or stealing hearts. Since his Brink!  and The Princess Diaries days, he's slowly trickled off the radar. He's had a few television guest starring roles, and even voiced Sid in Toy Story 3 back in 2010, but hasn't been in anything since then. He doesn't appear to be on social media, at least not for the public's access any way, at the moment. He's still managed to keep his perfect SoCal skater hair after all these years and for that, we're very happy.
Patrick John Flueger - Jeremiah Hart

Fun fact: The Princess Diaries is Patrick John Flueger's first acting role! His red hair might make him a little unrecognizable but he's actually been very active in the acting world. He played Shawn Farrell on The 4400 from 2004-2007. In 2014 he was on Chicago Fire as Adam Ruzek, which led to him continuing the role as a main character on the spin-off show Chicago P.D. Later in 2015 he has two films premiering, The Tell-Tale Heart and San Patricios.

Elizabeth Gudenrath - Anna

So you may not remember, but this cheerleader's name in the movie was Anna. In The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement she was upgraded to Princeton College Girl Anna. Since then, she hasn't gone on to leading lady status, but she has appeared in some popular TV shows over the years. She's been in episodes of Medium, Girlfriends, Man Life Crisis, and most recently Shameless.
Julie Andrews - Queen Clarisse Rinaldi

As if we need to tell you what Julie Andrews has been up to since The Princess Diaries! The woman is a flawless queen who looks more stunning with each passing day. Just in 2015 she celebrated the 50th anniversary of her iconic film The Sound of Music. The last acting credit to her name is from the 2010 film Despicable Me (she's Gru's mom!) but that doesn't mean she's not still busy.  She is set to produce the remake of The Pink Panther, which will release in 2016.
Héctor Elizondo - Joe

Did you know that Héctor Elizondo has been acting since 1963? In that time he's made over 80 films! His career is so extensive, it's impossible to list everything he's done in the last 15 years. Shonda Rhimes fans will recognize him as Callie Torres father on Grey's Anatomy. Whereas new sitcom lovers will recognize him now as Ed Alzate on Tim Allen's Last Man Standing. Over his career, Héctor has been very proud of his Latino heritage and has remarked on how he refuses to accept any roles that would be considered stereotypical of demeaning for Latinos.

Caroline Goodall - Helen Thermopolis

Most of Caroline Goodall's biggest work occurred before her time as Mia's mother. She's kept busy these last few years (we're loving the transition to blonde!). Some of her TV work includes CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, The Good Wife, and The White Queen. In 2014 she appeared in the film version of Nicholas Spark's book The Best of Me.
Sean O'Bryan - Patrick O'Connell

Sean O'Bryan may have only been Mia's math teacher (and okay, her stepfather), but he's done alright for himself since then. His most notable role since then has been Ron Donahue on The Middle. He has a few films releasing between 2015-2016: The Fix, Don't Tell Kim, London Has Fallen (the sequel to his film Olympus Has Fallen).
Sandra Oh - Vice Principal Gupta
Sandra Oh, The Princess Diaries

Another person on this list who needs to explination as to what they're up to! Since her days as Vince Principal Gupta, Sandra Oh went on to portray one of the most brilliant doctors on TV, Cristina Yang on Grey's Anatomy. Though she left the show in 2014 after 9 years on the ABC hit drama, she's been keeping busy. Her upcoming work includes 33 Liberty Lane, The Scarecrow, and Window Horses.

Whoa. Jeremiah got SO HOT. Not that he wasn’t kind of cute in this movie, in his own quirky way. We just did not expect that transformation at all.
