The Chainsmokers’ Alex Pall battled ADHD

The Chainsmokers star Alex Pall battled attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) as a child.
The 31-year-old musician and bandmate Drew Taggart, 27, topped charts around the world last year with their hit song Closer, but as a child he feared he wouldn’t be able to overcome the condition, which causes behavioural and concentration problems.
“That whole attention deficit disorder thing was a big part of my childhood,” he tells Britain’s Metro newspaper.
However medication and a move to a boarding school with a strict regime helped him learn to cope with his condition.
“Something clicked when I went to boarding school,” he explains. “I don’t know if it was the structure but I learned to manage my brain better.”
Alex is wary of stardom causing him to lose his self control and is determined not to get to carried away by his success.
“Egos…that’s the dangerous part,” he explains. “And the downfall of anything breaking up in history.”
Drew adds, “We’re lucky we’re as good friends as we are. We have an understanding of how to work together and we know the things that p** each other off.”
Other stars who have admitted battling ADHD include the actor Channing Tatum, Maroon Five rocker Adam Levine and Justin Timberlake, who told Collider.com he has suffered from ADD and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) in a 2008 interview.
