The Color Purple closing on Broadway

The Broadway revival of The Color Purple will close next year (17).
The latest run of the stageshow opened in London in 2013 and came to New York last year (15). During it’s run it featured Jennifer Holliday and Jennifer Hudson at different times.
The musical at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre will end on 8 January (17).
The production, which is produced by U.S. TV mogul Oprah Winfrey, was nominated for four Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival, while British newcomer Cynthia Erivo, who played Celie, landed a Lead Actress in a Musical nod.
The show will return to the stage later next year for a North American tour.
