‘The Descendants’ Comes to Blu-ray and DVD

George ClooneySure, everyone is rushing out to see last night’s big winners The Artist and Hugo now. How can you blame them? Two award-winning, whimsical tales that blend human imagination with the possibilities afforded by cinema’s endless reach to create unforgettable (depending on who you ask) stories. While these films and others took the real world and made it more magical, one movie decided to take a magical land and make it much more real: The Descendants, which tells the tale of a well-off Hawaiian man (George Clooney), who undergoes the simultaneous catastrophes of his wife falling into a coma and learning that she had been cheating on him.

The Descendants, from writer/director Alexander Payne (who, along with his co-writers Nat Faxon and Jim Rash, won an Oscar last night for Best Adapted Screenplay), is a funny, heartbreaking, and sincerely real tale about an American family, which includes Shailene Woodley in a spectacular performance, striving to stay together despite their differences. And now, the movie is coming to Blu-ray and DVD, available March 13.
